Complete Physiotherapy

Congratulations to Chris and his team for your great efforts at this years London Marathon!

This was my second time volunteering at the London Marathon as part of the medical and St Johns ambulance team ensuring runner well-being and safety.

This year I was assigned as team lead so I had two other physios with me and three students who are currently studying physiotherapy at University.

We were based at mile 14 which was near the Rotherhithe tunnel and were stationed there with two emergency doctors and a large St Johns Ambulance crew.

The main injuries/issues we treated/assessed were cramp, sprained ankles, stress fractures and exhaustion. We were extremely busy for around 2-3 hours as the majority of the runners came past mile 14 and then this slowly eased off as the race came to a close. All together we treated and assessed over 100 runners and only had to retire a handful which was great!

Always a really enjoyable event to be part of and the support from the general public was amazing, so good that I’ve entered the ballot for next years race!

What a great effort Chris, you work has ensured many runners achieved their goals and dreams…..on a separate note good luck for next year if you get in!

The ballot for next years London Marathon 2022 is now closed but see the link below for a charitable entry if you feel upto the challange:
