What is dry needling?
Dry needling uses fine needles inserted into selected areas of muscle as part of a physiotherapy treatment approach. No medicine is injected.
Your physiotherapist will assess your symptoms and discuss whether this approach is suitable for you.
A decision made with you
Needling is an option within a wider treatment plan. Your physiotherapist will explain the proposed treatment, its possible benefits, risks and alternatives before asking for your consent.
You can ask questions or choose not to have needling. Exercise, advice and other physiotherapy options can be discussed as part of your care.
Before your appointment
Tell your physiotherapist about your medical history, any medicines you take and any concerns you have about needles. They will check suitability and explain what to expect and any aftercare.
Contact reception to ask about dry needling availability at your clinic and the most appropriate appointment to book.
